I am beyond than grateful for all the support from the ICM and Convention Bureau teams that were active since minute one, when the open call was sent out. The ICM has been the home of the German Congress (DCK) since 1999. With its participants, the congress is the central and unique platform for surgeons from all specialties to come together and exchange ideas on an interdisciplinary basis. ESC Congress – European Society of Cardiology
In 2018, the ESC brought 32,800 cardiologists from 150 countries to Munich. In addition to the ICM, the large-scale congress used a further six directly connected halls at the exhibition center. In addition to the good connection between the ICM and the pillar-free exhibition halls, in which the exhibition, poster area and room installations were realized, one highlight was the green oasis, “the atrium”, where congress participants could relax. The clear layout made it easy for congress participants to find their way around the site.
European Stroke Congress (ESOC)
With the ICM, ESOC had the opportunity to realize a wide range of event formats—from plenary sessions with over 4,000 participants to intensive workshops for just 40 scientists—and also to provide central and easy access to exhibition and poster areas. This resulted in a compact congress format that facilitated an intensive exchange between scientists. The European Stroke Society’s choice of Munich as a congress venue was underlined by the city’s attractiveness and international visibility as a scientific location.
German Surgery Congress (DCK)
At national level, the ICM hosted the 140th German Surgeons Congress in April 2023. Around 5,000 participating surgeons from all specialties used the congress as an opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange. The industry exhibition with 85 industry partners was spread over more than 2,000 square meters in Hall B0 and the foyer areas of the ICM. The ICM has been home to the DCK since 1999.
Bits & Pretzels Founders Festival
The Bits & Pretzels Start-up Conference has been held annually at the ICM since 2015. Entrepreneurs, investors and industry representatives use the ICM for business development. The ICM offers the 5,000 participants spacious areas for matchmaking and speed dating, the foyer and the intermediate areas for industry exhibitions and the numerous halls are suitable for presentations and workshops. Hall C1, which is directly connected to the ICM, was also successfully used for the 6,000-person keynote speech with Barack Obama. Managing international top speakers such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Branson and Jessica Alba is done flawlessly at the ICM.
