- GDG represents common interests of trade-fair centers in Germany
For the next two years, Klaus Dittrich, Chairman and CEO of Messe München GmbH, will be in charge of Gemeinschaft Deutscher Großmessen e.V. (GDG). Effective January 1, 2014, he was elected Spokesman of the Managing Board in December. The GDG comprises the seven largest trade-fair corporations in Germany—i.e. Messe München, Messe Berlin, Messe Düsseldorf, Messe Frankfurt, Deutsche Messe AG (Hanover), Kölnmesse and NürnbergMesse. Besides Klaus Dittrich, the members of the Managing Board include trade-fair CEOs Dr. Christian Göke (Messe Berlin), Werner M. Dornscheidt (Messe Düsseldorf), Wolfgang Marzin (Messe Frankfurt), Dr. Wolfram v. Fritsch (Deutsche Messe AG), Gerald Böse (Kölnmesse) and Peter Ottmann (NürnbergMesse).
The objective of the GDG is to represent the common interests of Germany's trade-fair venues to the general public.
Klaus Dittrich: "A number of customer- and service-oriented international trade fairs are held at the trade-fair centers of the GDG's seven members, and they create enormous business opportunities, especially for the German export sector. As a strong community, we also want to play an active role in shaping the general conditions for developing, positioning and holding the GDG members' trade fairs at home and abroad."
Klaus Dittrich has been Chairman and CEO of Messe München GmbH since 2010. He is also a member of the Managing Board of the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and a member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
