Messe München's fight against product and brand piracy
mmi
Messe München has compiled a comprehensive catalog of protective measures to protect the commercial property rights of its exhibitors. Besides an anti-plagiarism clause in the Terms and Conditions of Participation for all events that we organize and a general ban on photography, it also allows German Customs and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office to set up information stands at its fairs and exhibitions free of charge.

At the request of Messe München, the Regional Court of Munich also keeps court dates available for fairs and exhibitions that experience problems with product and brand piracy. This makes it possible to have writs of injunction issued more quickly, provided that the petition clearly indicates that it is an urgent fair-related matter.
The Intellectual Property Panel (IPP)
mmi
Messe München is also exploring new approaches including initiatives such as its "Intellectual Property Panel" (IPP), which is actively involved in several events. Exhibitors who feel that their commercial property rights have been violated can call upon the panel immediately prior to or during the fair or exhibition. The panel can serve as an arbitrator that mediates an out-of-court settlement. Alternatively, it can serve as an expert committee that compiles a corresponding expert report which, in the event of a legal dispute, can be submitted before a court of law.

The panel consists of legal and industry experts under the supervision of a representative of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition Law and Tax Law. Regardless of the panel, all exhibitors may still petition the responsible regional court.

Additional information is available from the Exhibition Management team of the respective trade fair or exhibition.
